Information About My Practice
Medicare rebates and referrals
Under Medicare you may recieve a substantial rebate. As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a Medicare Provider Number, I can offer Medicare rebates. To access rebates, you will need a referral from a GP or psychiatrist. Before referring, your doctor is required to complete a mental health assessment and Mental Health Treatment Plan. Make sure you bring the treatment plan and referral to your first appointment if you wish to claim Medicare rebates. Alternatively, your doctor can fax the documents to my clinic.
If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and valid referral, you can access rebates for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. After the first six sessions, I will send a progress update to your referring doctor, who will undertake a review with you.
You do not need a referral if you are using private health insurance or privately paying in full. Some private health funds provide a rebate for services provided by an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. As these rebates vary, it is best for you to contact your private health fund directly.
Rates
The Australian Association of Social Workers recommended consultation fee for 2022-23 for individual sessions is $270. In my practice, the fee for a standard 50-minute consultation is $190. Medicare or private insurer rebates may be applicable.
Payment information
Payment is due in full at each session via cash, direct debit or EFTPOS.
If you are eligible for Medicare rebates, the rebate is automatically transferred to your account, which saves you having to claim your rebate.
Cancellation policy
Minimum two business days’ notice is required to reschedule or cancel your appointment. Otherwise, you will be charged the full fee. Please note that Medicare rebates are not available for cancellations or non-attendance.
Before your visit
Before your first appointment you will receive and complete initial forms electronically. Software used supports both remote and in-person sessions and is APP compliant.
Confidentiality
The privacy of clinical work is vitally important. Confidentiality is maintained except as required by law. More information will be included in your information pack.
